Dr Wassim Shamsuddin is a senior consultant anaesthetist and pre-hospital physician with over 25 years’ experience in event medicine, emergency care, and healthcare leadership. He is the Founder and Director of Event Medical Consultancy Ltd, providing strategic medical leadership and governance to major mass-participation and endurance events in the UK and internationally.

Trained in anaesthetics and pre-hospital medicine, his career spans critical care, ambulance services, and complex multi-agency medical operations. Robert Ashton

A career paramedic in the NHS and Event Medicine, Rob was a past commissioner for a Voluntary Aid Organisation. With over 38 years’ experience, Rob has led and/or managed the planning and delivery of medical cover at major events including London 2012 Olympics for Sailing, Major Air Shows, London Marathon and IRONMAN UK. Rob has experience in Control Room Management for an Ambulance service.

Exertional Heat Stroke Researcher

With over 16 years in the NHS and events, Richard has experience of leading the medical care at some of London’s blue-chip venues. 

He was part of the medical team for the Olympics and Paralympics and currently leads a project in Exertional Heat Stroke aimed specifically at club and fun runners. Richard has spent several years working in the Middle East as a Paramedic. His main interests are in education and he is a current trainer of First Aid and Ambulance Care.
